Late 70's by Sean
"I was a regular at The Marquee from 1977 to 1981, mostly 1978, 1979, when I was 17 or 18. It was a very very special place for me and a few others who were heavilly into the punk scene at the time, the memories I have are the most cherished I have, from travelng to the West End, a bottle of special brew with a dash of lemonade (32p) in The Ship, queing down Wardour Street.
The long corridore with pictures on the walls, the smell of stale sweat, pogoing until your body was soaking, crouching against the wall waiting for the band, the DJ`s, getting upon stage and trying to get the mike of Charlie Harper... what great times.
I saw many bands at The Marquee: UK Subs, Lurkers, Generation X, Xtc, U2, Duran Duran, Adam and the Ants, Suicide, The Undertones, The Rezillos, Slaughter and the dogs.
