6th National Jazz & Blues Festival

In 1966 the festival found a new home at the Royal Windsor Racecourse in Berkshire. By this time the festival was the most important pop and rock event in the country, and this year the lineup was headed with the appearance of the new born band Cream, which caused a huge expectation, since the band were playing their second concert after their recent debut in Manchester the day before. During Cream's performance at Windsor, the weather didn't comply with the event and it poured down non-stop, turning the field into a pool of mud.
Other highlights included the Small Faces, the Who, the Move, Spencer Davis and the Yardbirds. The festival became a boost for all of the artists to break through in their careers and to get better deals in the business, and even to get a residency at the Marquee club.
