On The Move From Birmingham
April, 1965
"Subsequently the Move are now playing a brand of music with a great front line harmony and they've signed exclusively to marquee Artists Management in London.
"You have to move to London for good management and bookings," said Carl Wayne. "We're very grateful to Birmingham, it has been our home but there aren't many people there with the business know-how.
There's a great difference in playing in London, it's almost frightening. We've played at the Marquee Club a few times, and they know more about music and groups than all of Birmingham put together. We didn't know what to play really," admitted Carl. "What did they want to hear? Anyway we did our usual things, Motown with a beat."
It went down very well, mixed with Who-type asides. The Move are constantly experimenting with new sounds and lead guitarist Roy Wood can even play his guitar with a violin bow. Certainly a group to keep an eye out for.""
