Memories on this night
"After seeing the Rolling Stones on 21/8/76 at Knebworth, a friend and I decided to go to the Roundhouse and see Hot Tuna again, also on the bill at Knebworth. This was within a week, and possibly the day after Knebworth. The queue at the Roundhouse was too long so we went to the Marquee instead. Playing that night, were the Fabulous Poodles.
While watching the Poodles for the first time on this night, Bryn Burrows, the drummer, left the stage and reappeared coming from the bar, playing everything in sight with his sticks. I then realised we had met. I helped him, and a songwriter called Dick who was signed to Rocket, move from Kent to Battersea a year or so earlier as a favour for a friend who played guitar with them. This period will always stick in my mind as the night before the moving job, I had seen the Count Bishops for the first time at the Greyhound.
I think the Poodles may have been a late replacement on Sunday the 22nd August. I was also interested to see in the pictures one of Warlock, I ended up in a band with their guitarist in the early 80's, and know their drummer. The 70's was a great time for me for music. I saw a lot of bands at the Marquee and elsewhere. I still perform myself, I have a band called Southern Cross."
